Do I Need a Permit to Remove a Tree in Hamilton?
In most of Hamilton, there is currently no private tree by-law applying to trees on privately owned residential property — meaning most homeowners do not need a permit. However, if you are in the former Township of Ancaster, a by-law (2000-118) applies to woodlands of 0.2 hectares or more and heritage trees of 45cm diameter or more.
